SARPP Spring Break Study Abroad Trip


HLTH 389S is a three credit, interdisciplinary 10-day study abroad course from March 15-March 24, 2013 where students will travel to Rome and Sicily to learn about the issues surrounding domestic violence.  Students enrolled in HLTH389S will learn about the dynamics of domestic violence including the power and control wheel, the cycle of violence and safety planning.  Students will be expected to draw comparisons of the response to domestic violence between Rome, Sicily and the United States.  Students will visit various community organizations to further their understanding of domestic violence in Rome and Sicily.   Students will blog daily during the course and must be available to present on their experience during a Sexual Assault Awareness Month event on April 10, 2013.

REMINDER: CJSA MD State Police Talk TODAY

The Criminal Justice Student Association (CJSA) will be  hosting Maryland State Police STATE Team 1st Sargent Keith Ruck.  Sgt. DEADLINE EXTENDED - Internship Opportunity: USSCP Spring 2013


The United States Supreme Court Police Department is currently seeking students for a police internship for the Spring 2013 semester.  If you are seeking a career in law enforcement this is a great hands on experience. You will be protecting one of the most important bodies in our government, the U.S. Supreme Court. Credit will be granted for this internship through the CCJS department after the proper paperwork has been processed. 

 Intern’s duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist officers on the front plaza and with crowd control
  • Aid any investigations
  • Assist visitors with directions
  • Escort Justices and/or groups with reservations
  • Assist officers with screening of visitors
  • Various administrative duties

Internship Opportunity: PGCPD Special Enforcement Division



240 Hour Internship Opportunity for the Spring 2013 Semester

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Special Enforcement Division is accepting applications for police interns. Interns will work closely with detectives assigned to investigate robberies, violent repeat offenders, motor vehicle theft rings, or homicides. Interns will receive 6 credits after successful completion of this internship.

Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program


 
For Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores and Advanced Freshman

The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program is designed to provide students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers. The Program encourages the involvement of African American and other minority group students. Students who take part in the Program are referred to as Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Scholars (Rangel Scholars). This program takes place at Howard University in Washington DC for six weeks beginning in mid-June. It includes academic courses and additional seminars and visits to give students exposure to key policymakers and practitioners of international affairs.

Pickering Undergraduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship (for Juniors)


The Pickering Undergraduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship program was created by the US State Department to attract outstanding students from all ethnic, racial, and social backgrounds who are interested in pursuing careers as Foreign Service officers. Foreign Service officers staff U.S. embassies, consulates, and missions worldwide and also serve in Washington, D.C. Their responsibilities include policy analysis, formulation, and execution; management of resources; the provision of services to Americans in need; implementation of U.S. immigration and nationality law; trade promotion and business facilitation; public diplomacy; and representation of U.S. interests. The Pickering Fellowship program seeks to recruit talented juniors majoring in fields relevant to international affairs, political and economic analysis, administration, management, and science policy. Each successful candidate is obligated to a minimum of three years of service in an appointment as a Foreign Service officer.

Peace Corps: Employer Networking Session

The Peace Corps will present an information session on their volunteer positions. They are interested in students from all majors, but will specifically talk about opportunities related to conflict resolution, international development, and humanitarian relief during this Information Session.
