Paid Auditory Training Study

Who is conducting the study?  This research is being conducted by researchers at the University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language (CASL). 
 
What would I have to do?  Participate in 12 sessions of approximately 1.5-2 hours each at the University of Maryland and/or CASL (Center for Advanced Study of Language, near the College Park Metro). The sessions involve completing questionnaires and computerized tasks. All sessions must be completed within approximately 5 weeks.

Participants are needed for a study investigating thinking and reasoning!  Are you a native English speaker and over the age of 18? Are you willing to receive cash for completing tasks on a computer and filling out questionnaires? 

If so, you may be eligible to participate in a study being conducted by the University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language.  Researchers are investigating how basic measures of cognitive ability can predict academic or job performance. They need your help to test these measures.  Participants will receive $150.00

BACKGROUND: The Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth (CFSY) works to end the practice of sentencing youth to life without the possibility of parole (JLWOP) in the United States. The CFSY works with advocates across the United States and in Washington, D.C. that use public education, advocacy, and litigation as strategies to pursue this goal. We work with active state campaigns and are advised by a committee of experts in the field.

The intern will become familiar with national and state efforts to end juvenile life without parole sentencing. The intern will assist the CFSY staff by undertaking research projects of varied materials and complexities, attending local juvenile justice meetings, assisting with communications related activities, and performing program support and administrative tasks. College credit eligibility and letters of recommendation provided upon successful completion of the internship. Part-time.

Apply to the CCJS Honors Program

Applications are now being accepted for the CCJS Departmental Honors Program.  The CCJS Honors Program is a unique opportunity for undergraduate CCJS majors to challenge themselves academically.  The Honors Program is comprised of small, interactive and rigorous courses taught by Dr. Thomas Loughran, a distinguished CCJS tenured faculty member.  In addition to Dr. Loughran, students will have contact with the tenured/tenure-track CCJS faculty, who happen to be some of the most well-respected researchers in the field of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
