Speak Up, Save a Life - Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office Presentation

The University Student Judiciary is hosting, Steven Chaiken, Montgomery County Assistant State's Attorney. Mr. Chaiken will give a presentation entitled "Speak Up, Save a Life" about the growing drug epidemic in Maryland and Maryland's relatively new Good Samaritan Law, which happens to be very similar to UMD's Responsible Action Policy. 

Mr. Chaiken is a charismatic speaker eager to work with students. He will discuss how the law works and how we as, citizens and students, can utilize the law to save lives. The event is hosted by the University Student Judiciary and is open to the public.  For questions, students can contact umdusj@gmail.com.

Fall 2016 Internship: US Supreme Court Police

Image result for us supreme courtThe Supreme Court of the United States Police is currently seeking students for a police internship for the Fall 2016 semester.  If you are seeking a career in law enforcement this is a great hands on experience. You will be protecting one of the most important bodies in our government, the Supreme Court of the United States. Credit will be granted for this internship to eligible students through the CCJS department after the proper paperwork has been processed.

Intern’s duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist officers on the front plaza and with crowd control
  • Assist visitors with directions
  • Escort Justices and/or groups with reservations
  • Assist officers with screening of visitors
  • Various administrative duties
