Victim Services Internship Opening- DC Forensic Nurse Examiners

Overview:
DC Forensic Nurse Examiners (DCFNE) seeks a Program Intern to assist the Executive Director and DCFNE staff with administrative and programmatic duties such as routine clerical tasks and program outreach. This position offers the opportunity to develop office and professional skills while providing experience in a victim service nonprofit. DCFNE’s Program Intern will learn about the dynamics of sexual and domestic violence, as they relate to medical forensic care. 

Duties:
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and management team
  • Maintain daily operations including basic financial tasks and supply/equipment management
  • Attend community outreach and education events on behalf of DCFNE
  • Cultivate and maintain DCFNE’s social media presence
  • Assist with clinical forensic program needs, as assigned
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and compile meeting notes 
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Fall Internship- Foundation for Defense of Democracies

Intern for a Day- Fall Orientation Sessions
Intern for a Day connects undergraduate students with alumni, parents, employers and community partners for one day job shadowing experiences. This program is available 3 times in an academic year: during both fall and spring semesters with hosts located in Maryland, DC, and Virginia and during students' winter break in New York City. America Reads*America Counts*Partners in Print is a mentoring/tutoring program where more than 200 UMD students work weekly to improve the literacy and math skills of Prince George’s County elementary school students. We are currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic college students who love working with kids and want to give back to their community. 

America Reads*America Counts*Partners in Print is a great way to meet new friends on campus, develop essential leadership skills, and gain valuable resume-building experience!

We are currently recruiting for each of our programs. Students can volunteer, receive academic or internship credit, or, if eligible for Federal Work Study, can be paid to work with our program! Don’t know if you have Federal Work Study? Check your financial aid package at testudo.umd.edu.

Excited to participate in community service? Passionate about social issues prevalent in our local community? Apply now to be a Terps for Change Volunteer for Fall 2019! 

Terps for Change is a service-learning organization committed to connecting groups of proactive students to local community service sites that tackle a wide variety of social justice issues. We work with issues ranging from education inequity, to environmental impact, to socioeconomic disparity. In addition to weekly service, participants engage in weekly dialogues to learn more about the social issue that they work with and reflect on the service done at site.

Mesa Police Department Police Officer Recruit Applications Being Accepted Now


Mesa Police Department will be accepting Police Officer Recruit applications from Monday, July 29, 2019 – Monday, September 2, 2019!  Applicants will need to first apply online and if they meet minimum qualifications, they will be invited to the MPD Physical Fitness and Written test on October 12, 2019.  Only the first 700 online applications will be considered, so apply early.

Special accommodations will be made for out-of-state applicants.  They will complete their Physical Fitness test and written test on a Saturday morning.  If they pass both of those steps, the Background Interview and Polygraph will be scheduled for the following Monday or Tuesday.
