Fall 2020 Criminal Investigation Internship w/ Fairfax County

The Fairfax County Public Defender's Office is currently seeking multiple Criminal Investigator interns for the Fall 2020 semester. This opportunity can be used for CCJS internship credit. The Literacy Lab is an AmeriCorps partner program providing individualized reading support for students ages 3 to grade 3 in Baltimore and other cities across the country. CARES Act Funding available

The University of Maryland is encouraging eligible students facing financial distress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruption of university operations to apply for assistance through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Students who wish to apply must fill out the application and provide a statement about how the COVID-19 situation and the disruption of campus operations resulted in financial hardship.  

To complete the application, log in to the financial aid portal. Eligible students may use the funds for expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. Detailed eligibility requirements can be found on the Financial Aid Office website.

Eligible students who already received the UMD CARES Act Emergency Financial Aid Grant based on their 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and are still experiencing financial distress caused by the COVID-19 campus disruption can also complete the application for additional emergency financial aid grant consideration.

CCJS Advising Summer Hours

CCJS Advising is still available and advising remotely.  This summer we are slightly changing our office hours.  CCJS Advising will be open:

Monday - Thursday from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Fridays 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.  

The CCJS Advising office will close early on Fridays for new student orientation.  Students can reach us by phone at (301) 405-4729 or by email at ccjadvising@umd.edu.  
Email is preferred.

The virtual career fair offers the opportunity for current students and alumni to connect with diverse employers seeking to hire for full-time, internship, and part-time opportunities across a variety of industries.  The event will take place using the CareerEco virtual fair platform. 

The platform will allow for chat-based interactions between candidates and employers. Employers will also be able to invite individual candidates to connect 1-on-1 conversations and virtual interviews.
