Due Diligence Research Summer 2018 Internship
Kroll’s Compliance Team handles anti-money laundering (AML) and anti-bribery and corruption (AB&C) compliance programs. Interns support the overall research and due diligence process at the company. Interns will be exposed to due diligence practices used globally to mitigate the impact of fraud and corruption. Kroll places a high value on our talent and seek candidates with a high level of conscientiousness, integrity, and professional pride.
Interns responsibilities:
- Support the overall research and due diligence process
- Conduct extensive Internet and media-based research regarding both companies and individuals in both English and/or additional foreign languages
- Assist in gathering information that will enable Kroll clients to form an assessment of the status, legitimacy, general background and overall reputation of a given subject company and its main principals
- Review gathered information, analyze extensively, then compile into written summary reports

Study Abroad Spring 2018 Deadlines
March 1 is fast approaching and is the deadline for UMD-sponsored programs! Please spread the word to your students and help them access our diverse array of options:
- Short-term programs - 41 program options to choose from led by UMD faculty
- CCJS is offering a short term program in Italy in Summer 2018
- Exchange programs - students pay the same as their UMD tuition & are guaranteed a $1,000 scholarship
- Maryland-in programs - students earn resident credit while benefitting from the support of on-site resident staff and UMD community of students
Students wanting to pursue an affiliate or other approved program must submit a UMD application for approval by March 15th.
Appointments with EA advisors are available, EA peer mentors are on hand to answer questions and there are Study Abroad 101s as well.

Fall 2018 Legal Aid Internship - On Campus
The Undergraduate Student Legal Aid Office is now accepting applications for the Fall 2018 internship. All students, regardless of class standing and major, are welcome to apply. No prior knowledge of the law is required.

Paid Summer Justice Policy Research Internship
The Urban Institute - Justice Policy Center is seeking a Research Intern who can work collaboratively on projects aimed to enhance and measure criminal justice response in the United States for the Summer 2018 term. The Summer Internship is a paid, 10 week program designed to provide students interested in research, public policy issues and organizational operations with rewarding and substantive work assignments that contribute to Urban’s mission.
The Justice Policy Center conducts research and evaluations to improve justice policy and practice at the national, state, and local levels. JPC conducts rigorous evaluations and in-depth data analyses, and give context to the data through interviews with individuals involved in the justice system at all levels. JPC also produce reports and provide technical assistance that translate complex research into actionable strategies to enhance the safety and well-being of individuals and communities.

March 1st, 7:00pm in the UMD Career Center (Hornbake 3100)
Networking is a critical skill for exploring careers, searching for a job or internship, or advancing in your chosen field. At this event, students will be paired with individual alumni for brief conversations about career paths, industry insights, and advice for success in the job search. Every eight minutes, participants will rotate to their next assigned networking partner. The quick tempo produces an energetic atmosphere where lots of knowledge and connections are exchanged in a short time.
Students will be informed of their assigned networking partners in advance. The event will commence with hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and a brief primer on networking. At the conclusion, students will have a chance to meet other alumni volunteers.

The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is launching the BSOS Undergraduate Experience Funds!
These funds assist undergraduate BSOS majors engaged in experiential learning outside the classroom, such as unpaid internships, research, service learning, and professional or academic conferences. The funds are intended to help offset expenses related to such activities like travel/transportation expenses, professional attire, and other opportunity costs (for example: the need to give up a part-time paid job in order to take an unpaid internship).
If you are a BSOS student with financial need that is preventing you from taking advantage of an unpaid opportunity, we encourage you to apply for BSOS Undergraduate ExperienceFunds.

Graduation Fair - buy your regalia!
We encourage all graduates to make their way to the University Book Center from March 6th through March 8th to purchase their graduation regalia.

The ACES Program at UMD is opening its applications for the CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service program. The 2018 application period is open from Monday, February 19 to Friday, March 16.

Affordable, on-campus LSAT Course

Princeton Review, a 15 person, full-length, in-person Princeton Review LSAT
course is available at a cost of $200.

- Make sure to write a thoughtful essay response about your interest in law school, as well as information about your personal/financial circumstances that makes this opportunity particularly appealing to you.
- For those 15 students selected, the course will start on Sunday, February 25th and run every Sunday for 10 weeks until May 6th, with March 18th off due to break. Class will take place from 6:00 PM - 9:00 Pm at a location on campus. It includes 10 in-class sessions and 4 diagnostic exams that will likely be held on Saturday mornings throughout the course. All books and additional materials are also provided at no additional cost.
- This is intended for students planning to take the LSAT in 2018.
- If selected, you will be required to make a payment of $200 and commit to full participation in the class.
