As a team member of the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate ) Program, you will support and supervise volunteer advocates working to support abused/ neglected children in the Alexandria and Arlington court systems.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual Spanish/ English with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of work experience in child welfare, child abuse prevention, human services, juvenile justice, law, or public administration.
- Experience supervising others and working with professional stakeholders
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse communities
- Computer literate and proficient user of Microsoft Office and virtual presentation tools such as MS Teams and Zoom
VOLUNTEER TRAINING
- Assist with facilitation of volunteer orientation and pre-service training
- Orient new volunteers to agency processes, other systems, and other professionals as needed on each case.
- Support ongoing volunteer recruitment and retention efforts
VOLUNTEER SUPERVISION AND CASE MANAGEMENT
- Supervise up to 25 volunteers and their cases
- Maintain volunteer records, including case history, performance evaluations, status updates, and prepare monthly reports
- Review and edit court reports and maintain records and case files of active cases
- Attend court hearings, meetings, and visits as needed
This position reports to the Manager, CASA Program
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an office, community, and courtroom environment. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work some evenings and weekend hours as needed. Both remote and in-person work is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must be comfortable discussing sensitive issues including child sexual abuse.
The candidate must understand and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining the confidential nature of client information.
All employees of SCAN must also consent to criminal and child protective services background checks.
Pursuant to the SCAN's COVID-19 mitigation protocols, individuals must be fully vaccinated upon commencing employment, subject to legal requirements.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
Salary commensurate with education and experience. Expected salary range: $48,000-$52,000.
