Position: Student Worker
Starting Salary: $15.00 per hour
Hours: 5 to 20 hours per week*
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Office Manager, the incumbent performs the following duties:
- Reception duties - answer incoming calls for three extensions, assist the caller and/or route them to the appropriate staff member for further assistance; greet and assist office visitors; take telephone messages when necessary and deliver the messages within a timely manner to the appropriate staff member.
- Deliver and pick up various documents to other campus offices; maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen area and main office area, and water plants.
- Sort and deliver mail - Twice a day, receive, sort mail, including shipments of small boxes received from Rudolph, DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc. For large boxes, immediately contact the appropriate staff member (via e-mail or telephone) to alert them of the shipment.
- Microsoft Office Suite - use Microsoft Office suite to prepare file labels, prepare and update documents, etc., create flyers, signs, brochures, etc., prepare various spreadsheets and complete data entry tasks as well as photocopy an array of documents.
- Inventory of office supplies - maintain inventory of office supplies and provide supply order lists to the business manager.
- Miscellaneous duties - use various internet search engines to conduct various research for the Deans, check the availability of conference rooms, and forward any reservation requests to the Lead Student Worker for completion.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
- Ability to work well with people
- Strong telephone skills
- Previous clerical experience
- Customer service skills and motivation.
- Experience using the Windows operating system and software such as MS Word, MS Excel.
- Dependability and Punctuality
- The incumbent must ensure the privacy and security of confidential documents and material handled and/or delivered; have the ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs; be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use and be familiar with various office equipment (copier, fax, shredder, label maker, etc.).
*During the summer, students will be permitted to work more than 20 hours per week.
