Spring 2026 Research Opportunity with Dr. Lauren Porter

Dr. Lauren Porter is looking for a Research Assistant to help clean and code interview data about perceptions of crime, as well as field observations of police ride-alongs. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in gaining real research experience in criminology.

Interested undergraduate students should email Dr. Porter (lporter1@umd.edu) with a 200-word statement about why they are interested in the opportunity and how it would help them in their academic and career goals. The student needs to have completed all the requirements to be eligible for an independent study, including having taken CCJS300. More information regarding eligibility can be found on the CCJS website and on Instagram.

Research credit will be granted via CCJS399 for 2 or 3 credits (6 or 9 hours per week). Applications are due by 12:00 PM EST on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Questions? Email Dr. Porter (lporter1@umd.edu).
