The Juvenile New Referral (JNR) Clerk is permanently assigned to the Family Arraignment Courtroom. This is an essential position that is required to work late hours, holidays, weekends and when there are weather related closures. This position covers a high-volume calendar by which speed and attention to detail are necessary to be successful. A JNR Clerk is responsible for the smooth, orderly, and expeditious administration of all courtroom proceedings.


BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Ensures the courtroom is ready to conduct business, i.e. forms and supplies are stocked, courtroom equipment is operable, court participants are orderly.
• Ensures that defendants are advised of rights and penalties for violation of conditions of release.
• Provides technical and administrative assistance to the assigned judicial officer.
• Researches case information in the case management system relative to the respondent(s).
• Updates the digital Juvenile New Referral Board.
• Coordinates and directs all parties concerned in preparing the courtroom for business, i.e., prosecutor, defense counsel, court reporter, U.S. Marshal, and bailiff when appropriate.
