This position is a Student Intern assigned to the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG). The incumbent of this position will work within the Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Investigations (DIG INV), Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS). They will be responsible for assisting DCIS Special Agents (SAs) on complex investigations as well as working independently on routine investigative tasks such as document reviews, data analysis, and public records check.

Duties
  • Assists DCIS SAs on investigations into allegations of violations of law, policies, or regulations by DoD officials, employees, or those doing business with DoD.
  • Provides investigative support that has high visibility within the law enforcement community to the supervisor, the field office Administrative Officer, and the field office management team using various law enforcement systems and databases.
  • Receives, records, tracks, and organizes investigative documents, evidence, and confidential information.
  • Observes investigative methods, techniques, and procedures applied to specific situations.
  • Observes and records facts about persons, objects, and events.
  • Prepares reports which may serve as a basis for the preparation of cases for courts-martial, presentation to Assistant United States Attorneys for criminal prosecution or civil litigation, or referrals for administrative action.
  • Deals effectively with others and gains their confidence and cooperation.
  • Observes judicial and administrative proceedings.
  • Observes interviews of witnesses to crimes.
  • Observes and assists in executing search warrants.
