POSITION

The acquisition
and procurement group within the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Office of
the Inspector General (OIG) is seeking students interested in gaining a
competitive edge and marketable experience through an opportunity with the
Federal Government. Student volunteer positions are currently available for the
Summer and Fall of 2013. The DOT spends billions of dollars on contracts and
grants every year. Minimizing waste and abuse through sound acquisition
management is an ongoing challenge for DOT. Acquisition reform emphasizing
increased accountability within the acquisition and grant arena continues to be
a part of the Administration’s agenda and is an ongoing focus for Congress. The
IG’s acquisition and procurement audit group conducts audits of DOT’s direct
contracts and the contracts of DOT grant recipients. As a member of this group,
you will learn about DOT’s mission and lines of business, become informed on
Federal acquisition related news and regulations, and be introduced to the
Federal audit process.
