The State’s Juvenile Council is currently recruiting for
youth members under the age of 24 who have been (or currently are)
involved in the juvenile justice system. The Juvenile Council is a
governor-appointed advisory group that is called on to serve as the voice of
juvenile justice in Maryland.
The Council was established under the Juvenile
Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act. Members are required to
participate in the development of the 3-year plan, advise the Governor and
Legislature on compliance with the JJDP Act, obtain input from juveniles in the
system, review and comment on grant proposals and monitor programs, and
understand the flow of the juvenile justice system in Maryland. Council
meetings occur bi-monthly for two hours; meeting attendance is mandatory.
Web and phone conferencing is available. Paid in- and out-of-state travel
opportunities are also available.
If you are
interested in applying for the Council, please send your resume and
contact information to: JWinpigler@goccp.state.md.us. Youth members will
receive a $15.00 stipend for every meeting attended.
