An introduction to modern methods of data analysis for social scientists. This course emphasizes teaching students who have no previous coding experience how to analyze data and extract meaning in a social science context. Students will gain critical programming skills and learn inferential thinking through examples and projects with real-world relevance.   Open to all BSOS  majors or by permission of instructor.

A new section of CCJS 418Q Seminar in Criminology and Criminal Justice; Crime and Place was just added for the Fall 2019 Semester!

Description:  This course will focus on the following two questions: (1) Why does crime vary across communities?  (2) Why does crime vary within communities?  We will take an interdisciplinary approach to explore these questions, discussing perspectives and research from sociology, criminology, psychology and geography.

Field investigators are tasked with conducting internal and external background investigations, ranging in complexity, into potential candidates. The investigator will be responsible for conducting fieldwork--not limited to the retrieval and verification of records, interviewing references, etc.--to produce reports of investigations.
