START Now Accepting Applications for their Spring 2020 Internship Program

Image result for start umdThe National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Response to Terrorism (START) is now accepting applications for the Spring 2020 Internship Program!  Below is a list of opportunities available for the spring semester.   • GIS: Transnational Illicit Trafficking (TransIT) 
  • Global Terrorism Database (GTD) Internships

  • State Department/START Internship 
  • Unconventional Weapons and Technology (UWT): Advanced Research Internship
  • Unconventional Weapons and Technology (UWT): Innovative Discovery of Emerging and Novel Technologies 
  • Unconventional Weapons and Technology (UWT): Transnational Illicit Trafficking
  • Understanding Domestic Radicalization 
  • Using Text Processing Tools to Study Polish & Lithuanian Social Media

General requirements:
Applicants for all internships must:

  • Have a good academic record
  • Demonstrate an interest in the subject matter
  • Be able to complete their internship work hours on site at START
  • Agree to attend orientation and training
Submit an application by the deadline

  • All application packets must include:
  • A complete application for the correct semester
  • One page resume
  • Cover letter
  • Writing sample
  • Unofficial transcripts from most recent institution
Note: Each project may have additional requirements, including minimum credit hours, preferred majors and compulsory meeting times. 

Priority application deadline: 11:59 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2019
Final application deadline: 11:59 PM on Sunday, November 10, 2019
