The Maryland Senatorial Scholarship Program is available to constituents within Senator Chris West's legislative district. If you would like to be considered for this scholarship, starting in the 2021-2022 school year, please fill out the application and return it to: Senator Chris West, 1134 York Rd, Ste 200, Lutherville Tim, MD 21093. All application parts can also be emailed to Senator West's office.

All applications and attachments must be postmarked or emailed by April 1, 2021. Only complete applications will be considered. A complete application will include the application form, one letter of recommendation, a transcript (unofficial is acceptable), a copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) from Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and, if applicable, a copy of SAT/ACT scores.

To be eligible for a Senatorial Scholarship you must satisfy certain criteria
  1. You must be a resident of the 42nd Legislative District. To determine your residency status, please visit the Maryland State Archive’s website at http://mdelect.net, and type in your home address.
  2. You must complete a FAFSA.
  3. Senatorial Scholarships may only be awarded to students applying for admission to an institution of higher learning within the State of Maryland, unless unique major status is approved for a non-Maryland school.
Senatorial Scholarships are awarded for four (4) years or until the completion of your degree, whichever comes first. Once awarded a Senatorial Scholarship, it will be automatically renewed each year as long you take a minimum of six credit hours a semester. Therefore, if you have already received a Senatorial Scholarship, you do not need to complete the enclosed application.

A scholarship committee comprised of three Republicans and three Democrats within the 42nd Legislative District will determine the final selection of recipients. The committee will make their final decisions by June 1, 2021 and recipients will be notified shortly thereafter. If you have any questions regarding the award process, please contact Marc Lazerow, at 410-823-7087 or mlazerow@senate.state.md.us.
