Study: Predicting Interest in Law Enforcement
Introduction: You are being invited to participate in an anonymous research study conducted by Aubrey Powell (a doctoral student in The University of Akron’s Counseling Psychology Program) under the direction of Dr. Margo Gregor (faculty in the Department of Psychology at The University of Akron).
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to understand the motivating factors for choosing a career in law enforcement. We would like to collect responses from at least 150 people. Procedures: If you agree to participate, you will be asked a series of questions about your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs for a future career in law enforcement. This will take you about 20 minutes.
To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, a US citizen, and pursuing a career in law enforcement. All eligible participants are encouraged to take part! I am especially interested in hearing from individuals with diverse identities, including different racial, ethnic, sexual, gender, socioeconomic, religious, and ability backgrounds. Understanding a variety of perspectives will help provide a more comprehensive picture of what factors motivate people most. After completing the survey, you have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win one of three $50 Amazon gift cards.
If you're interested, please fill out this survey. If you have any questions about this study, please feel free to email Aubrey Powell (arp135@uakron.edu) or Dr. Margo Gregor at (mgregor@uakron.edu).
