Consider working for the University of Maryland, Department of Public Safety, Police Auxiliary Unit. The Police Auxiliary hires students at various times during the year for the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter semesters! Students are not required to work during the Summer or Winter breaks, but many hours are available.
The Student Police Aide provides a wide variety of security and services to the entire campus. The tasks can vary from a general patrol of the campus to security for certain locations on campus. Police Auxiliary also provides general security and traffic control during major sporting events such as football and basketball games, among many other events.
Salary starts at $11.50/hour and can go as high as $15.00/hour with promotions. In addition to the hourly wage some shifts pay an extra $1.00/hour, many weekend and night shifts pay an extra $2.00/hour, and specific shifts may pay an extra $4.00/hour.
