The Pretrial Release Investigator Trainee is the entry level of pretrial release investigative work for the Division of Pretrial Detention and Services (DPDS), Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, serving Baltimore City.
- Learns how to compile, organize, and prepare case files for arrestees
- Learns rules, regulations, procedures and policies applicable to the State pretrial release program and criminal justice system
- Accesses the appropriate information systems to obtain criminal histories
- Verifies all background data
- Completes a Risk instrument to assess danger to the community or appearance in court
- Formulates an appropriate recommendation for bail or recognizance based on the investigation
- Presents the gathered information and proffers the recommendation to the Judge at Bail Review; forwards the information to Records/Classification
