We no longer have Seasonal Police Officer positions because the program has been discontinued, but we are offering civilian positions (Public Safety Officer).
Public Safety Officers are utilized as civilian support staff within the Patrol and Support Services Divisions.
Public Safety Officers assigned to Arrest and Detention are responsible for processing and custody of detainees, safety and security of the Public Safety facility, interaction with the general public and the courts.
Public Safety Officers assigned to Patrol Operations handle traffic control, parking enforcement, assist with transportation of arrestees, public safety needs at special events, and the enforcement of civil violations.
TESTING PROCESS:
In-Person - All testing will be completed on Saturday at the Ocean City Police Department. All applicants will complete a written examination. Police Officer applicant will then have to complete the physical abilities portion and interview. Public Safety Officer applicants will only have to complete an interview.
All police officer applicants must submit a signed physician’s waiver prior to completing the physical abilities test.
On-Line – If you’re unable to attend an in-person testing, you may complete the written examination on-line and have a virtual interview. In an effort to streamline our testing process and alleviate the financial burden of traveling for applicant testing, our written testing and interview will be conducted online. The written test is a minimal cost compared to traveling to take an in-person test, incurring lodging, meals, and other travel expenses. This will allow the applicant to take the online test at their location and time of choice. Upon successful completion of the written test and virtual interview, applicants will then be provided a background investigation packet to submit.
HIRING PROCESS:
Candidates must submit an application through Police App with preliminary background form attached, successfully complete a written examination, structured interview, physical abilities test (police officer applicants only), background investigation, and medical examination.
In order to complete the on-line written test and virtual interview, applicants will need access to a computer with camera, and show a State issued driver's license or identification card.
