Fall 2021 Amtrak Police Internship

The Amtrak Police Department’s Mid-Atlantic South Patrol Division is seeking a qualified intern whose primary responsibilities will be to provide administrative project support to the 100+ members of this Division of the Amtrak Police Department. APD’s Internship is designed to provide students with an opportunity to integrate theory and practice. The internship is a paid position.  The intern may work up to 24 hours per week when classes are in session and 40 hours per week during holiday and summer breaks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists the Deputy Chief, Mid-Atlantic Division in providing research, technology and administrative projects of the Amtrak Police Department. Duties will include:

  • Assistance with coordination of a wide-range of projects in support of the Mid-Atlantic patrol operation.
  • Assisting with research, development, and implementation of projects on topics ranging from crime statistics/ analysis, enhanced information-sharing,  state-supported partner initiatives, Explorer and Cadet programs, Community/School Resource, tenant and vendor security awareness, stakeholder training creation, as well as general administrative duties.
  • Presenting research results on a variety of administration functions using computer programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Organizing and maintaining files for the various projects and completing documentation when necessary.
  • Assisting with creating and maintaining standard operating procedures, instructional materials, and presentations relative to patrol procedures.
  • Performing other duties as required.
