Job Description
The Department of Community Corrections is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Drug Court Probation Officer to supervise participants placed in the Drug Court program by the Loudoun County Circuit Court. Duties include submitting reports to the Court, testifying, attending and participating in Drug Court Team meetings, and collaborating with the Drug Court Coordinator. This position establishes and monitors community service work for program participants and ensures that all special conditions of the Court are fulfilled. This position requites regular attendance to court proceedings. maintains accurate automated PTCC notes and case files and performs substance abuse assessments and makes appropriate referrals.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology, psychology or related field, and a minimum of two (2) years related experience in the criminal justice field.

Special Requirements
Must be willing to supervise criminal defendants in a community corrections office setting and perform occasional residential visits. Must be willing to work with criminal offenders who may have violent tendencies and to enter the Loudoun County Adult Detention center or other correctional facilities, as needed. Experience working with criminally involved, substance abuse, addiction, mental health and appropriate services/treatments. Collection of samples of urinalysis and administration of alcohol breath tests is also required. Must have strong writing skills and be able to compile facts and information into concise reports for submission to the Court. The successful candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills to interact with representatives from the legal community such as Commonwealth's Attorneys, Defense Attorneys, law enforcement, Judges and Court Personnel. The ideal candidate will be able to work as part of the Drug Court Team, as well as on the probation team within the Department of Community Corrections. VCIN certification is required, selected candidate will obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
