Job Summary:
The Policy Intern will support the daily functions of the policy team at Brady. The Policy intern will assist with research on pending legislation, members of Congress, and potential gun violence prevention measures at the state and federal levels. Working closely with the Federal and State Policy Managers as well as the Vice President of Policy, the best candidate will be flexible, enthusiastic, collaborative, and passionate about gun violence prevention.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Analyzing legislation and drafting relevant talking points and testimonies for use by the policy team.
  • Researching and writing memos and testimonies on key gun violence prevention policies and bills.
  • Updating current institutional reports, fact sheets, and other materials based on updated data and information.
  • Providing briefings in advance of meetings with legislators and helping to track legislative efforts.
  • Working in conjunction with the full policy team to provide logistical support on coalition calls, legislative meetings, and maintaining databases. 
Skills and Experience:
  • Strong writing skills, including precise grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Ability to work well under pressure within a fast-paced, high-performing team
  • Strong desire to be a key team contributor
  • Self-motivated, creative, dependable and accountable.
