Community Liaison
The Montgomery County Council is the legislative branch of the county government. It has eleven members, all elected by Montgomery County, MD voters for four-year terms. In 2018, Councilmember Evan Glass was elected as an At-Large member of the Council and currently serves as the Chair of the Transportation and Environment Committee. He is the first openly LGBTQ+ individual on the Council. Councilmember Glass has passed the Montgomery County Pay Equity Act, the Housing Justice Act, the LGBTQ+ Bill of Rights, and the Oversight and Small Business Investment Act.
Internship Summary
The Office of Councilmember Evan Glass offers a Community Liaison program for students designed to immerse participants in building connections with the community at the local government level. This position is for May through July. Community Liaisons will assist staff with:
- Representing Councilmember Glass at community events throughout the County
- Providing administrative support in the office
- Providing constituent services
- Other duties as assigned
