Performs duties in a developmental capacity with on-the-job training.  Assignments are made by the supervisor or team leader who discusses the nature and objectives of the assignments, and instructs how work assignments are to be accomplished. Cases involve segments of investigations of employee benefit plans, service providers, trust departments, and other fiduciary arrangements. Work requires assisting auditors and investigators in researching legal issues involved with on-going investigations of employee benefit plans. Conducts research and reviews new court cases involving employee benefit plans and prepares summaries of cases for distribution to staff. Prepares reports using computer and various software products. Replies to written inquiries from plan participants, Congressional offices, service providers and others, independently researching data to prepare technically correct written responses for supervisor.
