Hiring/networking events for CCJS majors (Fall 2019)

The University Career Center has a number of hiring and networking events planned for students interested in the legal, law enforcement or federal/state government, etc. for the fall semester. 


FAIRS/NETWORKING
Women in Law Enforcement Career Fair, Panel Discussion and More! (off-campus)
Saturday, August 17 • 10:00 am - 2:00 pm |  Howard County Public Safety Training Center
The Howard County Police Department is hosting a  recruitment fair specifically for women seeking a career in law enforcement.  

Fall Career & Internship Fair 
September 17, 18 & 19 • 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm |  Adele H. Stamp Student Union
The University Career Center invites BSOS majors to attend the 2019 Fall Career & Internship Fair. This event kicks off the fall recruiting season and offers the opportunity to interact with hundreds of diverse employers interested in students and alumni, seeking full-time and internships positions in various industries.  

Justice & Government Networking Night
Thursday, September 26 • 6- 8 pm |  Adele H. Stamp Student Union, Colony Ballroom
The Justice & Government Networking Night connects current students with UMD alumni and employers working in the areas of legal, law enforcement, and government in a variety of positions.   

Law School Recruitment Fair
Thursday, October 3 • 11:00 am - 2:00 pm |  Adele H. Stamp Student Union, Grand Ballroom
This event provides a unique opportunity for students and alumni considering law school to meet face to face with law school admissions representatives from across the country. Over 100 law schools typically attend this event.

CTP’s certified Career Coaches will offer feedback to help “Federalize” students’ resumes and answer their questions on the Federal Hiring process, as well as providing more information about open positions at the CTP. For a list of open positions, refer to www.fda.gov/ctpjobs

Howard County Police Department Information Session

Government Industry Meetup (Fair)
Friday, October 18, 2019 • 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm |  University Career Center & The President's Promise
Interested in a career in Government? Come to a relaxed, informal opportunity to meet organizations that work in the government sector and are interested in hiring UMD students for FULL TIME and INTERNSHIP positions. Each organization will give a 3-5 minute overview and then be seated at tables to have conversations with students for the remainder of event. 

Central Intelligence Agency Information Session

CIA Representatives will provide information regarding the CIA and the variety of career and paid internship opportunities available.

U.S. Capitol Police Information Session
Tuesday, October 22 • 5 - 6 pm |  University Career Center, 3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing
As one of the oldest federal law enforcement agencies in the country, having been established in 1828, the United States Capitol Police has protected the greatest symbol of democracy for nearly 200 years.


SHADOWING OPPORTUNITIES
Intern for a Day- Fall Orientation Sessions
Intern for a Day connects undergraduate students with alumni, parents, employers and community partners for one day job shadowing experiences. This program is available 3 times in an academic year: during both fall and spring semesters with hosts located in Maryland, DC, and Virginia and during students' winter break in New York City. All sessions will take place in the University Career Center: 3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing.
