Sure Power Consulting is looking for a recent graduate to fill a Business Analyst position ASAP.  As a Business Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work on a high profile large scale software implementation with a municipality in the Baltimore/Washington area. You will perform your work alongside professionals with deep expertise in business transformation, technology implementation and customer management.

This is an entry level Business Analyst position with Sure Power Consulting. We will provide full training in cutting edge software. This requires the aptitude to learn assignments quickly through initial training, then investigate, adjust and complete time sensitive transactions.

In this position, you will partner directly with various tenured employees and business leaders to develop, implement, and maintain customer data-audit quality-assurance programs and initiatives in support of a large-scale technology implementation.

Skills & Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of work experience or Internship experience 
  • Strong Analytical skills needed
  • Experience working with web-based applications
  • Excellent written (including email) and oral communication (including telephone), and documentation skills
  • Basic handling of MS Excel and Word is required. Ability to navigate and manipulate complex spreadsheets is preferred
  • Proven ability to work with details, including tracking progress, establishing audit trail, and following up on completion of tasks and transactions
  • Must possess the awareness and sensitivity to maintain proper conduct in a unionized working environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks by importance and urgency
  • Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday from 7:00 - 3:30 and occasional Saturdays
  • College Degree Required

Additional Testing Date Announced for OCPD

The Ocean City Police Department will be holding several test dates for interested candidates applying for seasonal and full time Police Officers, Public Safety Aides, and Communications Operators on February 29 and March 1, 2020. Successful candidates will remain on the eligibility list for 18 months.

Saturday’s testing will take place at the Ocean City Elementary School located at 12828 Center Dr, Ocean City, MD 21842.

Officer/Public Safety Aide – Doors will open at 0700 hours and testing will begin promptly at 0800 hours.

Communications – Doors will open at 1100 hours and testing will begin promptly at 1200 hours.

Sunday’s Officer interviews will take place at the Ocean City Police Department, 6501 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, MD 21842.

Officer interview times will be assigned on Saturday afternoon.

Thomson Reuters Summer 2020 PAID - analyst internship

Thomson Reuters  is currently seeking a full-time Analyst Intern for the Summer 2020 term. This opportunity is 12 weeks long (May-Aug) and paid. Over the 12 weeks, all interns will complete an independent research project, with the assistance of specially selected mentors at TRSS. The research project will be presented to the company and senior leadership at the end of the 12-week period.

What to Expect in Law School: Panel For Students by Students

The Department of Government & Politics (GVPT) is hosting a panel for students interested in attending law school.  An array of current law students have been invited back to campus as panelists for a "For Student, By Student" style panel where UMD undergraduates can get an opportunity to ask current law students from various law schools in the area about their experiences so far and what is truly in store for them as they prepare to attend law school themselves.

Acing your interview (Behavioral Interview) Workshop with APHIS

Join the Career Center for an Interview Workshop that will teach you how to prepare and ace behavioral questions in interviews! These questions will often ask about a situation or require you to name your strengths/weaknesses.

Presenters from APHIS (Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service) will offer tips and best practices for behavioral interviews and answer questions about what sets candidates apart in the process. Participants will have the opportunity to practice their interview skills in small groups with APHIS professionals.

BSOS Summer Research Institute Summer Program - Accepting Applications

Are you interested in pursing a doctoral degree in the behavioral and social sciences?

Are you looking for a summer program that will give you research experience?

Do you want to make a difference by bringing your unique background and interests into social science research?

The University of Maryland, College Park's BSOS Summer Research Initiative (SRI) is a program that helps prepare undergraduate students for graduate school and is a part of our longstanding commitment to increasing the number of underrepresented minorities who pursue graduate degrees in the social and behavioral sciences. 

The SRI is especially interested in a broad spectrum of students including males, African Americans, Latino/Hispanics, American Indian/Alaskan Natives, Native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders, as well as students with research interests related to diverse communities. 

The SRI is an 8 week summer program (June 1 – July 24) that offers students a research experience that will enhance their basic research knowledge and skills and develop students’ knowledge of graduate school and the application process.
