University of Maryland Leadership Scholarships: Spring 2023 and 2024


Applicant Information
Through the generosity of a number of alumni, the Stamp is pleased to offer several Leadership Scholarships to support students. The scholarships were created to help deserving students manage costs associated with attendance and will provide between $500-$2000 awards to an incoming or current student during the spring 2023 semester. These scholarships recognize the sizable contribution of time and energy that students contribute to the campus community through their service.

Applications are reviewed by a committee that may include UMD Faculty/Staff/Alumni. Applications are due by Tuesday, February 1st 2023 at 11:59pm to be considered for a Spring 2023 award. 

Eligibility Criteria
  • Adele’s Circle of Women Scholarships: Five scholarships awarded to a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, and graduate student. The scholarships are intended to help deserving students who advance the role of women and girls in their academic studies and activities, who plan to further this leadership in their personal and professional lives. The scholarship seeks to aid emerging student leaders and/or recognize accomplished student leaders.
  • Annette and Morris Mintz Family Scholarship: Four scholarships will be awarded to a freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior who are first generation students (parent/s did not graduate from college). This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023.
  • Brandon James Malstrom Memorial Scholarship: The Brandon James Malstrom Memorial Scholarship provides an annual scholarship for transfer students at the University of Maryland who share the educational aspirations that Brandon exemplified. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be a Maryland resident or have graduated from a Maryland high school to be eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023.
  • Carlson Family Leadership Scholarship: A scholarship to a student who is in good academic standing and an active member of a registered student organization. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023.
  • Fearless Terp Scholarship: A scholarship for a student who demonstrates a commitment to the LGBTQ community with a preference for students who have an interest in international programs and/or study abroad. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023.   
  • Fisher Family First Generation Scholarship:  A scholarship for an undergraduate student who is a first generation college student (parent/s did not graduate from college). This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023. 
  • LGBTQ Advocacy Scholarship: A scholarship for an undergraduate who advocates for LGBTQ students on campus. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023.
  • Moose Family Scholarship: A merit-based scholarship for an undergraduate student in good academic standing and has demonstrated leadership within a student organization. Preference is for a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023.
  • Price Brothers Family Scholarship: A scholarship for a student who is involved on campus and demonstrates strong leadership skills, with a preference for students from New York. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023. 
  • Student Leader Scholarship:  A scholarship created by the Student Government Association (SGA) for a student who is involved on campus. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023.
  • Dr. Rocky Lopes '80 Endowed Scholarship for Leadership: A scholarship for a student who demonstrates a commitment to leadership within a student org and remains in good academic standing. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023.
  • Latinx/a/o Student Advocacy Scholarship: A scholarship established to provide scholarship support for students who demonstrate a commitment to the Latinx/a/o Community and/or who are pursuing a U.S. Latina/o Studies major/minor. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023.
  • Kayley Milor Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship provides support for undergraduate students who demonstrate a commitment to leadership and community engagement within a student organization. Preference is given to students enrolled in the School of Public Health. This scholarship is open to all students who will be enrolled in fall 2023
