Duties
The Deputy Clerk works in the operational divisions of the District of Columbia Courts providing administrative and clerical support as assigned. The duties include some or all of the following:
- Assists the general public, attorneys, judicial officers and staff.
- Reviews and processes documents and orders.
- Completes forms or other materials such as warrants, summonses, complaints, and subpoenas.
- Provides and receives information from citizens, police officers and witnesses as necessary for clarifying facts or preparing reports.
- Enters and retrieves data using automated databases and manual logs.
- Maintains calendars, appointments, juries, and services.
- Collects and compiles statistical data.
- Administers oaths or affirmations.
- Types correspondence, reports, and other documents.
- Files jackets and case documents.

- A background and security investigation is required.
- A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GRADE 6: High-School Diploma or GED plus two (2) years of clerical or administrative experience court, legal or office environment. You MUST provide documentation of education or your application will not be considered.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task are required.
Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts are required. If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted.
