Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.
This position will provide domestic and delinquent intake services, and juvenile probation and parole supervision. It will also provide effective interventions and services for competency development and accountability to promote juvenile behavioral change and public safety.

Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, selected candidates must possess the following:
• Knowledge and/or experience of the criminal justice system to include court proceedings
• Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, guidelines and procedures
• Knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques
• Knowledge and ability to assess needs and to develop case plans
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing including the creation of written reports
• Knowledge and ability to identify community resources and human service agencies to support families.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Word
• A valid driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain by the date of hire
Additional Considerations

• Experience working with juveniles and their families.
• Experience with community programming
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
