Looking for “EDCP” Leadership Classes? They Have Moved to HESI

Leadership Studies Courses with “EDCP” prefixes are now “HESI” (Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy) in the College of Education.

These classes include the following:
217 – Introduction to Student Leadership
315 – Student Leadership in Groups & Organizations
318, all classes – Applied Contextual Leadership
418, all classes – Special Topics in Leadership 
417 – Advanced Leadership Seminar

Do you study Spanish? Participate in a paid study!

The Language Learning and Cognition Study is recruiting participants!  Participate in 14 sessions of 1-2 hours each.  Sessions will be held at Taliaferro and/or Patapsco (a short walk from College Park Metro, accessible by Shuttle #104). 
 
You will be asked to complete cognitive tasks and questionnaires, as well as training tasks on an iPad.
 
Receive $240 for completing the study ($5 each for sessions 1-13, and $175 at the final session).  After completing session 14, you will get a raffle entry to win one of 10 $200 gift cards!

As the nation's first living-learning entrepreneurship program, Hinman CEOs is a groundbreaking initiative placing entrepreneurial students from all academic disciplines into a unique community. Students live together, learn about entrepreneurship, and can launch new ventures during this two-year experience. All undergraduates from the University of Maryland are invited to apply for this competitive program. Brian Hinman, University of Maryland alumnus and successful entrepreneur, provided funding to initiate and support the Program.

Apply for the BSOS Peer Mentor Program!



The Peer Mentor Program is a component of the student services offered by the BSOS Advising Center. The primary role of Peer Mentors is to teach the BSOS Graduation Planning workshops each semester and conduct various presentations in BSOS UNIV100 sections. 

Through the services they provide to fellow students, Peer Mentors gain leadership, presentation, and public speaking skills. In preparation for their required tasks, all Peer Mentors are expected to attend weekly class sessions and serve for at least two semesters. Students will earn 1 academic credit after successful completion of each semester.
  • Must be a BSOS major for a minimum of 2 semesters
  • If the student is a Double Major, the primary major must be in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences
  • Sophomore, junior, or senior standing with intentions to return for Fall 2015
  • At least a 2.5 GPA within major
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5+ (Required Submission of Unofficial Transcript)
  • Must be in good judicial/academic standing


Spring Internship- Baltimore Police Department

Below is the application for the Baltimore Police Department Internship Program for Spring 2015.  This will be the only application that will be accepted for consideration into the program. Come join Students for Sensible Drug Policy as we screen the Flex Your Rights film "10 Rules for Dealing with Police." The film will go over 10 simple rules based on common sense and constitutional rights that will help protect you from negative police interactions. After the film guest speaker Steve Silverman, Executive Director of Flex Your Rights, will be answering questions about the film. Steve will also be talking about additional ways to flex your rights, such as how to film police interactions and jury nullification.
