Extended Studies Summer Session Grant

Summary:
The Extended Studies Summer Session Grant is for degree seeking University of Maryland, College Park undergraduate students attending Summer Session and enrolled in courses administered by the Office of Extended Studies (OES). Courses administered through OES have the following section numbers: 01**, 02**, 03**, 04**, 05**, 06**, WB**, HY**, I1**, I2**. 

The grant is funded through OES and is designed to provide need-based aid to students who otherwise could not afford to enroll in summer courses. The amount of funding available each year is at OES discretion and is limited. 

Awarding:
The following is the awarding criteria: 

  • Undergraduate, degree-seeking University of Maryland College Park seniors and juniors are given first consideration, then sophomores, then freshmen 
  • Students must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average 
  • The student must have exhausted all other sources of aid including federal loans (Stafford and Perkins, if available) 
  • Students must demonstrate need; with students with the lowest income and greatest unmet need having first priority 
  • Students must be enrolled for at least 3 credits or more 
  • Students with merit aid or other institutional aid are given last priority 

Funding:
Students are awarded up to $1,000 for the entire summer term (summer I and summer II combined).
