The Master’s Certification Program (MCERT) is a one-year graduate-level teacher preparation program that leads to elementary, middle school, secondary or preK-12 teacher certification and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree. Grade level/content area specializations include Art, Dance, Elementary Education, English, Mathematics, Middle School Math and Science, Physical Education, Secondary Sciences (Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth/Space Science, Physics), Social Studies, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and World Languages (Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin, Russian, Spanish).
If you are interested in learning more about the MCERT program, please register for an information session. The information sessions will be held on Wed, Oct 23 from 5:30 PM - 6:15 PM and Tues, Oct 29 from 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM.

Montgomery County Police Department is currently accepting applications for interns and volunteers! Interns and volunteers are involved in nearly all aspects of the department’s operations from training to communications. They work side-by-side in support of the line officers, command staff, and civilian employees.

Intern Applicant Requirements (Law Enforcement Apprentice Program – L.E.A.P.)
- Minimum age – 16
- Successfully pass background check
- Ability to volunteer a minimum of twelve hours per week or 6 months in the program
- Be a U.S. citizen
- If you are not a U.S. citizen, you must have a valid green card
- Interns typically work anytime Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
What special projects may I be involved with?
Ability to participate in training operations
- Assist police officers with alcohol enforcement efforts
- Assist police officers with underage cigarette/alcohol purchases
- Assist officers at special community events such as the County Fair and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics
- Ride-along opportunities with police officers
The SOC is tasked with monitoring over 500 interior and exterior cameras across campus and multiple locations around the City of College Park. Security Monitors are responsible for managing various alarms across campus.
SOC offers flexible hours and starting part-time student pay at $11.50 per hour.
