Fall 2022 Internships | National Center for Missing & Exploited Children


The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children currently has the following Fall 2022 internships open at their headquarters in Alexandria, VA:

Intern, Outreach, Training & Prevention (OTP) [Req #383]

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Internship will be combination of in office and virtual
  • MUST be local and willing to travel to headquarters location in Alexandria, Virginia for fingerprinting process
  • Minimum of one day a week in office for internship
  • Must have own laptop, computer, etc. (Jabber will be provided for phone calls)
  • Must be experienced in SharePoint, Teams, Zoom, One Drive and Microsoft Office

HOURS:
A minimum of five hours per week until December 2022, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Intern will help the Outreach, Training and Prevention Team (OTP) with the following duties:

  • Communicate with public safety officials and maintain Excel spreadsheets for the Missing Kids Readiness Program (MKRP)
  • Research and other support related to outreach, training and prevention data analysis, needs assessment, program evaluation, planning and records maintenance.


Intern - Missing Children Division (MCD) [Req #362]

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interns will be assigned to an MCD specified team and will fulfill one or more of the following duties with the potential to take on additional responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance to families, law-enforcement and social-service agencies and courts with issues related to missing and exploited children
  • Liaise with law-enforcement and state agencies to help resolve cases
  • Organize case information and maintain a working case file containing documentation of all activities as well as materials.
  • Perform searches in open source and social media platforms
  • Support with maintaining updated information in the case management database
  • Assist with NCMEC data projects
HOURS:
The Missing Children Division Intern is required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Based on necessity and the intern’s performance there may be the opportunity to work over the course of multiple semesters/seasons. Interns will be excused to attend internship program functions and for academic holidays or vacations.
