Joining the Secret Service, Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information, Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division will allow you to gain experience in applying investigative research, analysis and assessment in relation to support the U.S. Secret Service leadership and intelligence mission of the Secret Service.


Duties

The selectee will serve as a Student Trainee (Intelligence Research) in the Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division. Typical work assignments include:

  1. Assists in performing tasks, assignments, and research that enhances the incumbent's understanding of protective intelligence, analysis, and assessment.
  2. Assisting in recurring developmental tasks such as analysis, abstracting, and disseminating rudimentary data from various information sources pertaining to subjects or groups who may pose a threat to the Service's protectors or protected facilities.
  3. ­ Assisting in preparing various protective intelligence reports based on analysis and evaluation of current protective intelligence relevant information received from multiple sources.
  4. ­ Assisting in analyzing intelligence reporting to determine the completeness and accuracy of information's relevance to other reporting and examines information to identify gaps and inconsistencies.

University Student Judiciary

This position assumes primary responsibility for developing and implementing the Center’s recreation program in accordance with the objectives, policies, and responsibilities of the Department. This position is responsible for the order, care and safety of youth. This position will provide a variety of recreational experiences designed to help participants develop a better awareness of personal care, health, fitness, and general self-esteem.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Maryland Correctional Training Commission regulation.

Experience: One year of experience supervising the recreational activities of children or youth in a recreation center, fitness center or school setting.

Notes:

1. The above educational requirement is set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with the Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209, Annotated Code of Maryland.

2. Candidates may substitute possession of an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university in a recreational program such as Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies; Sports and Fitness Administration or Health and Physical Education or 60 credit hours with 30 credit hours in the required areas for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Recreation Aid and Assistant classifications or Recreation Aid Assistant specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience


Preferred Qualifications


Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications. 

  • Candidates who have at least six months of experience working with youth within the Department of Juvenile Services (or similar agency). 
  • Candidates who have experience documenting information in a logbook pertaining to the participation level, number of hours participated and type of recreational activity performed by the youth. 
  • Candidates who have experience with de-escalation techniques working with the youth.

Application for the Needs-Based Student Housing Subsidy Program

The City of College Park has established a pilot program to provide a one-time grant of $1,250 in housing assistance to 60 eligible undergraduate and 60 eligible graduate students.  The students must live within the boundary of the City of College Park; be enrolled full-time at an accredited post-secondary institution located in the D.C. metropolitan area (University of Maryland, Bowie State University, Howard University, Prince George’s Community College, etc.); reside in off-campus housing; and be eligible for Pell grants (undergraduate students) or have an income below 60 percent of the HUD 2024 Adjusted Home Income Limits for the D.C. metropolitan area (graduate students).   

Before completing this application form, please confirm that you are eligible.   Incomplete applications cannot be submitted.  

All applicants must:

  • Provide an electronic copy of their lease (six months or longer) in the City of College Park for the 2024-2025 school year.
  • Provide an electronic copy of Course registration for the fall semester indicating full-time status.
  • Consent to participate in survey and data collection for program evaluation purposes only.

  • Do Good Campus Fund: The Do Good Campus Fund supports the substantial efforts happening across University of Maryland, aimed at reimagining learning and serving humanity both inside and outside the classroom.
