Assignment Description
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: Police Officers ensure compliance with Federal laws and Agency rules and regulations pertaining to law enforcement work. They maintain law and order; protect civil rights; carry firearms; provide assistance in emergency situations; investigate criminal activity and misconduct; and safeguard NGA personnel and assets. They also conduct patrols; prevent and detect violations; prepare accident and incident reports; and conduct searches, interviews, and briefings.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: Police Officers ensure compliance with Federal laws, Agency rules and regulations pertaining to law enforcement, anti-terrorism/force protection, and security work. They maintain law and order; protect civil rights; carry a variety of firearms and less-lethal weapons; aid in emergency situations; investigate criminal activity and misconduct; and safeguard NGA personnel and assets.

The Office of Protective Services (SIP) is a 24x7 operation, requiring Police Officers to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and are subject to recall on a 24-hour basis. Police Officer candidates must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and under strenuous and potentially dangerous conditions. Application to an NGA Police Officer position is consent to the aforementioned work schedule and conditions.

NGA Police Offices are required to sign a Continued Service Agreement requiring completion of 3 years' service with the SIP. Officers that leave the DoD, NGA, or the IC prior to completing the 3-year period of service may be required to reimburse the NGA for tuition and travel costs associated with required training.

NGA Police Officers are subject to uniform and appearance standards, to include restrictions on tattoos and facial hair. Tattoos, body art, or bands anywhere on the head, face, or neck are prohibited. Additionally, any visible tattoo, body, art, or bands elsewhere on the body that are extremist, indecent, sexist, or racist are prohibited. NGA Police Officers who choose to have facial hair must be neatly trimmed, no longer than a ¼ of an inch in length.
