Application for the Needs-Based Student Housing Subsidy Program
The City of College Park has established a pilot program to provide a one-time grant of $1,250 in housing assistance to 60 eligible undergraduate and 60 eligible graduate students. The students must live within the boundary of the City of College Park; be enrolled full-time at an accredited post-secondary institution located in the D.C. metropolitan area (University of Maryland, Bowie State University, Howard University, Prince George’s Community College, etc.); reside in off-campus housing; and be eligible for Pell grants (undergraduate students) or have an income below 60 percent of the HUD 2024 Adjusted Home Income Limits for the D.C. metropolitan area (graduate students).
Before completing this application form, please confirm that you are eligible. Incomplete applications cannot be submitted.
All applicants must:
- Provide an electronic copy of their lease (six months or longer) in the City of College Park for the 2024-2025 school year.
- Provide an electronic copy of Course registration for the fall semester indicating full-time status.
- Consent to participate in survey and data collection for program evaluation purposes only.
Undergraduate students must also provide electronic copies of:
- The financial aid award from their academic institution that includes eligibility for Pell Grants (2024-25 academic year).
Graduate students must also provide electronic copies of:
- 2023 tax returns documenting their household income of 60 percent or lower than the Department of Housing and Urban Development 2024 Adjusted Home Income Limits for the Washington, D.C. metro area.
All applications are due by September 15, 2024. Completed applications will be put into a lottery. The selected applicants will be notified and may be required to submit enrollment verification and confirmation of landlord’s address per the initial application. Once eligibility is confirmed, the City will issue checks to the recipient’s landlord.
The City of College Park reserves the right to deny any application or revoke any award if it deems necessary or appropriate. Any and all program awards are at the City's sole discretion.
