Careers4Terps - Events & Opportunities

Confused about your career options?
Log into FOCUS 2 to research options related to your major, take career assessments, or develop an interest profile. FOCUS 2 is a Web-based, personalized career and education planning system based on established career and counseling principles. It provides a complete picture of your interests, values, personality, skills, and leisure activities using self-assessment questionnaires, interest inventories, and personality testing. After assessing your personal attributes, the system searches its career and occupational information database to identify and analyze occupations and career paths that match your personal characteristics.

First, set up an account in the University Career Center’s jobs and internships database, Careers4Terps.

-          Go to the Center's home page.  
-          On the left is the login for Careers4Terps. 
-          Select Student or Alumni.
-          Login and/or register. 
-          On the main page of your Careers4Terps account, 
click the link to Focus 2. 

Once on the FOCUS 2 site, create an account.  The access code is:  goterps. You will be able to choose your own username and password when registering.

C4T is a free web-based service providing UMD students and alumni access to full-time, part-time, and internship positions posted by employers looking to hire UMD students and alumni. Several positions are highlighted below, but there are more located in the C4T database. Field Agent
ROLE SUMMARY: Responsible for providing “plain clothes” field surveillance for the Loss Prevention Department and for protecting the assets of the park’s guests, employees and company. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct in-park, external investigations of loss situations, including re-sale of tickets, theft of goods, vandalism, theft of services, fraud investigations, etc.
• Apprehension of guests involved in loss.
• Conduct external interviews of guests involved in loss.
• Conduct witness interviews to document details of events.
• Prepare legal documentation of observations conducted.
• Interact with guests of all ages and explain legal consequences of actions.
• Conduct mobile, stationary and video surveillance of internal and external investigations.

Investigator
ROLE SUMMARY: Investigators work under general supervision, responsible for the collection of evidence to be submitted to management in employee matters for disciplinary action, including termination and prosecution, to provide detailed reports and testify before courts, boards or administrative proceedings. Investigators work with management and other Loss Prevention personnel to identify those involved in crimes against persons and property, and violations of company policy.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Communicate internal theft and procedural compliance concerns to the Loss Prevention Supervisor and Manager
• Conduct interviews with employees
• Conduct in-park investigations of loss situations, including theft, unauthorized discounts, fraud, sexual harassment, safety violations, policy violations, etc.
• Conduct witness interviews to document details of events. Prepare legal documentation of observations conducted.
• Interact with employees & guests of all ages and explain legal consequences of actions.
  
Liberty Mutual Insurance Group Summer Internship multiple, Multi-State Claims- 54977
Internship
Responsibilities:
• You will participate in job shadowing, working with claims information systems, and assisting your team with day-to-day job functions.
• You may also spend time out of the office observing and/or assisting with field assignments to learn how to provide professional customer service, perform inspections of loss sites, assist with itemization of damages, work with contractors, participate in court appearances and assist with damage appraisals
• You will be assigned additional training or project work including an end of summer presentation to management.
