The United Youth
Movement along side with the “Black Male Initiative” and “Students Against Mass
Male Incarceration” are hosting an informative event to educate students on the
Prison Industrial-Complex and the detrimental affects on the African-American
community. They will cover political influences on the prison system and
socio-economic factors of being a convicted felon, including it impacts on the
African-American’s family life. Furthermore, we will have a guest speaker, Nina
Graves from the Law Enforcement Against Prohibition organization (LEAP) to
discuss about the war on drugs and different approaches on how to rehabilitate
and uplift convicts.
