Full Job Description
- Providing victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault with information, resources, materials, and/or referrals. Examples include: providing information about the criminal justice process and victims' rights; referrals to other victim service programs; and referrals to other services, supports, and resources.
- Providing victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault with advocacy, accompaniment, and/or companion services. Examples include: accompaniment to emergency medical care and forensic examinations; accompaniment to criminal justice system-related events; individuals advocacy; and intervention with employees, landlords, schools, and other therapeutic services.
- Providing victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault with an emergency, crisis, and/or ongoing emotional support. Examples include: crisis intervention; safety planning; hotline services; individuals counseling; support groups; and other therapeutic services.
- Providing victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault with safe housing options. Examples include: providing emergency shelter; providing transitional housing; arranging safe housing; and other relocation assistance.
- Providing victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault with information, support, and assistance through the criminal or civil justice system. Examples include: notification of criminal justice events; assistance with obtaining protective orders; and accompaniment to a court hearing, to meetings with law enforcement and prosecution, and to other criminal justice system-related events.
- Spearhead volunteer recruitment efforts for both direct service and non-direct service programs and serve as the initial contact for all potential volunteers
- Victim Services-related outreach activities, including outreach for community resources
- Creates educational and promotional materials, as needed
- Conducts workshops to community members
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, or related human service field
- 1+ years of experience working with survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their families is preferred.
- Knowledge of Korean immigrant community and bilingual proficiency (both verbal and written fluency) in English and Korean is a must.
- Valid driver’s license, access to an insured and registered vehicle and willingness to use a vehicle to travel to outreach events or partner meetings.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams in diverse settings
- Experience in working with Microsoft Office suites and the Internet.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Immediately upon receipt of legal documents
POSITION STRUCTURE: The coordinator will work at 847-J Quince Orchard Blvd. Gaithersburg, MD 20878. Some weekend and off-hours work is expected.
