The Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department is seeking qualified applicants to fill an Investigator I/II position, grade H-18/21, in the Office of the Fire Marshal Fire Investigations Division
About the Position:
This is an entry-level to full performance professional investigative work designed to conduct investigations on behalf of the Fire Prevention and Investigations office. The incumbent supports the mission of the Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department by ensuring that all major application investigation assignments are from The Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department from their initial inception to their ultimate completion.
The incumbent will treat all investigation work assignments as strictly confidential. Confidential information may not be discussed with other County employees except for work-related reasons, under terms and conditions of the Maryland Public Information Act. The performance will be evaluated based on accuracy, timeliness, completion of assignments, confidentiality, and compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
Examples of Work
- Manages assigned caseload of applicant cases through the background investigative process from initial case assignment to completion.
- Applies public safety standards to applicant case files and makes recommendations on whether or not to move forward through the process.
- Completes daily background investigation assignments through investigative staff.
- Assist in the preliminary screening of applicants.
- Interacts with a wide variety of customers in the performance of the background investigation process.
- Conducts file reviews and applicants to discuss background investigative findings.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminology, Law Enforcement, Business/Public Administration, Social Science, or a closely related field.
