Security and Counterintelligence is responsible for the protection of NSA/CSS information, people and facilities worldwide. In support of this mission, Counterintelligence (CI) Investigators conduct investigations of Agency employees and affiliates as mandated by national level and NSA policy in order to determine their eligibility for Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) access. These investigations are conducted in support of the comprehensive Personnel Security processing program, designed to ensure a trusted workforce. Description of Position: CI Investigators are required to successfully complete the NSA CI Investigator Training Program. After successfully completing training, the responsibilities of a CI Investigator include: - Applying techniques of interviewing, elicitation, debriefing, and/or interrogation in a systematic manner - Completing detailed, concise and accurate reports that encapsulate the information developed during the course of an investigation - Conducting counterintelligence or security inspections/investigations or security audits to resolve problems, clarify suspicious activities, and ensure compliance with security regulations - Creating a product based on analysis of security and/or counterintelligence data - Maintaining liaison with local, state and federal law enforcement and investigative agencies for the purpose of coordinating matters of mutual interest All CI Investigators are required to: - Have a valid driver's license and operate a motor vehicle on a daily basis - Maintain an overall grade average of 80% or higher at the completion of CI Investigator Training Program - Maintain federal firearms certification and a working knowledge of Agency Policies and Regulations - Perform physical and potential strenuous activities to include standing, walking, or kneeling for long periods under all weather conditions
Job Summary

CI Investigators conduct general investigations, those with personnel security suitability issues, or a counterintelligence and counterterrorism nexus.
Qualifications
The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Degree Criminology, Behavioral Science, Law Enforcement, Psychology, or Political Science is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable. ENTRY/DEVELOPMENTAL Entry is with a Bachelor's degree and no experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience may be considered. Relevant experience must be in security, law enforcement, behavioral science, counterintelligence investigations, or a related field. A current valid U.S. driver's license is required. FULL PERFORMANCE Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience. Relevant experience must be in security, law enforcement, behavioral science, counterintelligence investigations, or a related field. A current valid U.S. driver's license is required. Experience in polygraph and/or investigations is preferred.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Salary ranges based by location and work level. This position is hiring for Maryland only. Salary Range: $53,105 - $122,459 (Entry, Experienced) On-the job training, internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Work Schedule: Applicants should be aware that some of these jobs support 24/7 operations based on mission requirements and shift schedules may vary to include night shift.
