Salary: $50,438 - $78,947

This recruitment will establish an eligible list to fill current and future vacancies.
The current vacancy is located at the 3rd District Station in Silver Spring working the Day Shift (6:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. 4/10hr days with 3 days off. Rotating every 8 weeks from Tuesday-Friday to Saturday-Tuesday.

This position is essential and will require working during all types of weather.
Employee will be responsible for providing emergency and routine assistance and information to citizens and police officers at a police district station. Duties include; providing a high level of customer service; initiating written reports from citizens; providing fingerprinting services; conducting computer queries and generating information and results via METERS, NCIC, CAD; collecting fees for fingerprinting requests and accident reports. The employee regularly works rotating shifts including Saturday, Sunday, Holidays and may be required to work during declared emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Two (2) years of previous clerical experience that included public contact work.
Education: Graduation from high school or High School Certificate completion recognized in the State of Maryland.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria

  • Experience providing customer service on the phone and to walk in visitors, to include dealing with difficult and/or irate customers.
  • Experience obtaining critical information from various sources to provide to the public.
  • Experience taking and writing routine reports, preferably using a computer.
  • Experience in computer systems and database applications, specifically experience using NCIC, METERS, CAD and CJIS is preferred.
