Summary
The DCSA Student Experience (DSE) is a paid internship program designed to attract diverse and talented sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled full-time in the fall of 2023 in an undergraduate degree program from an accredited college or university. Students have an opportunity to gain marketable developmental experience in counterintelligence and insider threat, industrial security, personnel security, security training, and other DCSA core mission and support areas.
Duties
As a Student Trainee (Developmental Auditor) you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Works as a team auditor trainee under the supervision and direction of a higher-grade auditor.
- Performs specified audit assignments which facilitate the efforts of the team and provide experience leading to the independent planning and conduct of audit assignments.
- Research directives laws, regulations and operating instructions of DCSA activity's function or system.
- Collects data through interviews with officials, reviews and summarizes manual and automated records; and documents audit results.
- Presents data/information in briefings and written products.
About Office of Inspector General (OIG)
The primary mission of the DCSA Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is to detect and deter waste, fraud, and abuse, and to promote economy, efficiency, effectiveness, and integrity within the agency. The DCSA OIG pursues this mission by conducting timely, thorough, fair, and independent audits, evaluations, investigations, and special reviews relating to DCSA personnel and programs. The Office of the Inspector General oversees a variety of internal controls to deter and detect misconduct and related concerns that could impact the integrity of the program.
The DCSA OIG currently has four branches that conduct these various tasks to carry out the OIG mission. These branches include Special Investigations, Recoveries and Contractor Complaints, Hotline, and Audits. The Audits branch within the OIG performs audits, evaluations, and inspections to provide the DCSA Director a continuing assessment of the operational, managerial, logistical, and administrative effectiveness of the agency and its components. Coordination of all external Audit Engagements involving DCSA, to include those being conducted by the Department of Defense's OIG and the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
Audits core occupations are Auditor Series, 0511 & General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance Series, 1801. Auditors and inspectors examine DCSA programs or activities in a formalized, detailed, and in-depth way. Duties and assignments may involve new or controversial issues, shaping major programs, compliance with new legislation, or facilitating the resolution of long-standing problem areas of vital importance to DCSA. These audits and inspections cover multiple functional and program areas, such as counterintelligence, industrial security, personnel vetting, acquisitions, cybersecurity, financial, property accountability, training, and critical technology protection.
